![]() Given what Blizzard stated in their blog about it (which hasn't shown up on the US site yet, oddly enough) it sounds like they're just adding in the assets, along with all of the original assets from WC3, and then seeing what the community does with them.
Recreating the campaigns doesn't sound like it would be exceptionally hard, but I'm also thinking it's something Blizzard isn't really too interested in doing themselves when the community will likely do it anyway.

![]() The Felguards did use a recolored skin of the Orc Grunt skin so it's not really new. Not sure about the Green Eredar though.

![]() It wouldn't be bad if their terms of use didn't say that any mods belong to them. So if someone creates a fantasy campaign with an original storyline, they don't get to own the IP they created. It may seem silly to want ownership of a mod, but a modder that retained ownership of their could later on create their own game, like the DOTA people did. Of course, Blizzard did this exactly to prevent that from happening again - but it does much to discourage modders.

![]() Blizzard should scrap StarCraft II altogether, and transform it into a new platform:
BLIZZARD ARCADE (Or something like that) It would be F2P with some B2P games. SC2 would be a game inside of it, with only campaign and leagues to pay for, together with W3 remastered (For real and done well, not just community job) and Heroes of the Storm. SC2 has some things that don't work quite well with W3, like the cliff limitation to 3, which was limited to around 14 in W3, and was the primary tool to build castles and more. Anyway, this won't save SC2. The community is dead, killed by Blizzard's own sheer incompetence. It took them 6 months after release to enable chat channels, and 2+ years to fix a custom map system that was making mapmakers quit by dozens each day. I'll never forgive them for killing one of the most badass gamemaking communities in history. Never.

![]() SC2 arcade is already F2P. The fact that so many people still believe you need to buy SC2 to play the custom arcade is an absolute failure on Blizzard's marketting.

I mean, the page has it in a big bold button. The main SC2 page has PLAY IT FREE in big letters over the link to the Arcade page. They can't exactly spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an ad campaign to let people know it's free when they can't recoup any of that on box sales.

![]() There's more people who have heard about Legacy of the Void being standalone than know about the arcade being free. It could have been one of the many bullet points in the presentation, reminding the fanbase that this game is playable by anyone. They're even holding monetary prized mapping contests, but few people actually even know this stuff is even happening.
