Default Tera

I found no thread.
So there goes nothing. For people interested in the game and without the nerve to sift through the spam thread.

My first impressions:

It's fun. It's not that original but it's fairly fun so far.
I started out with a mage. My basic attack is fireball, bound to my left mousebutton. It has about 10 yrd range and you can spam it. More or less my auto attack.
My second skill is Flame Pillar, which incinerates the ground right before you.
Nothing to write home about so far.

Lvl 3 I got Backstep and lvl 4 Magma Bomb.
Which made the game a bit more interesting. Backstep has a 5 sec cd and allows you to ... step back, jumping a short distance to create space between you and your target (your mouse acts as reticule here, no abilitiy clicking, sorry ). Magma Bomb has also about 10 yard range which provides some early synergy.
Pull with Fireball, spam till the mob is close, create a pillar of fire, jump, throw bomb. Feels very energetic and fast paced. Sadly, some animations "lock you in", for example, jumping from a ledge, your character will perform a rather lengthy (it's about 2 sec but feels slow in an action game) landing animation you can't cancel.

Quests so far are fairly generic. Go kill, go kill, go kill.
Some quests are preluded by a little cinematic and a little background. Neat to look at.
Voice acting is good so far. And the NPCs are all little jokers ("Chaos everywhere! .... Just as planned ...")

Enviroment looks good although chaotic. I would have gotten lost easily (and I usually don't) if it weren't for the transparent minimap which conveniently shows you quest givers and nearby points of interest.
Loading times are slow, might be the server creaking though, many NPCs only appeared as shades to me, many players were nothing more but names racing across the ground. Still annoying nonetheless.

UI is moveable and interaction is done by pressing Esc or Alt and entering an "interactive mode" with the UI, allowing you to move windows, click menu buttons, hover over minimap idols to get info etc etc

So ask and demand away.

A screencap of the UI (plus stone lady eye candy)

Haha. Speaking of small hitboxes, I heard something about it also making it harder to heal them or something like that? Any clarification?

It still sounds interesting, if maybe a bit annoying.

I went Priest after the Mage (don't like it because the basic attack is a projectile with travel time and with the current lag it's atrocious to aim) and heals are either PBAOE heals/regeneration boosts or cause your reticule to unlock upon activation and require you to click the persons you want to heal. Which sounds very static. I can imagine they're harder to target, ya

Ah ok. Good to know.

Another question, is there a faction system of some sort? Or is it just everyone together?

I heard about politics? Guess it's clan based. So far everyone starts on the Isle of Dawn.

If you like single-player RPG's, give Reckoning a look, if you must buy something new and shiny.

This is a Beta. And honestly if the game ends up giving me ~30 hours of gametime then it already made itself worth the price to buy it since that's about what I get out of any single player game except rare cases like Elder Scrolls.

I thought beta invites went to people who already had pre-ordered...

I am still playing Skyrim. I seem to always be that one guy who is late to the party.

Connections

Anyhoo, I got a few chars to 10 and personally, I won't get it.
The quests are more than bland and I was bored out of my mind after 1 hour on each char. The whole action thing is not quite as actiony and fast paced as I imagined since you can't move while attacking, there's no action canceling and no target lock (but mob facing?) which caused me to dash more than once aimlessly past a mob. Especially the more mobile classes feel really, really clunky compared to the slow moving, hard hitters (who funnily have shorter animations and thus play more fluid).

But if you enjoy asian MMOs, especially the artstyle, without the absurd grind of L2/Aion, combat which performs a bit different and some other nifty game elements, this might be yours.

This game looked awesome.

BADASS awesome.

But then I saw the castanic male.

Okay, it looks a "bit" hypersexualized and metrosexual, but hey, they're succubus-like demons, so I'm ok with it.

But then I saw the high elves.

High elf females were always a bunch of bitches, and high elf males were always girly. Still, I don't like them, and this, together with female armor being nudity, started to make me lost hope.

But then, oh then, I saw them.

The popori.

The male popori is a goddamn pandaren whose face can go from rabbit to dog and bear to whatever the fuck. Even worse, the female are 8-year girls in pornographic attires, with their only animal parts being occasional bunny ears.

I'm sorry, but the playable races ruined this game for me.

Combat looks fun and I like the funny little beaver/dog guys.

Can't say I'm terribly interested in the game overall though, I don't expect much from it.

You must try out the game before you can say if it's any goood. The later groups are very good and the new gameplay really does change the game quite a bit.

I don't mean to say it's not good, I'm just saying I don't expect much from it in terms of success. There are a lot of parts of it that look quite interesting (the political system), and like I said before the combat looks brilliant, but it really just doesn't grab me even with some of the cool features.

Q. Who is the publisher?

A. Reckoning will be published by Electronic Arts.

You sure, dad?
