Default Does Warcraft need a funny character

Pretty much what the thread title says. Does Warcraft need a funny character. Somebody that's consistently funny with a good grasp on humor.

I think some good ideas would be a funny orc. Not a peon orc with elementary humor, somebody whose humor is not dictated by his predicament.

Or something more unexpected, like a funny demon hunter with a morbid sense of humor with impeccable timing on delivery.

Thoughts? What are some of your ideas?

Need fewer memes and more characters that are funny in the sense that they're 'in-universe' funny.

WarCraft 3 B.net Eyeball

A funny Eredar.

It's not like we can't hang out at a bar after a day's work is done just because we're enemies.

There'd be an outcry over how that "joke character" is occupying space that a "serious character" could use.

I think Khadgar fits the bill perfectly, as a 'funny character'.

Well there's the Forsaken guy who gives you a random quest while being assisted by his literal braindead living female slave assistant.

Also Jebediah and his bugs.

This.

Meme humour, hypocritical of me saying it may be, is the lowest form of humour. It suits Blizzard perfectly because they can put the least amount of thought into it and still have loads of people finding it 'hilarious' like LE GAMON WILL SAEV US XDDD and LE MILLHOUSE MEMESTORM.

I don't mind Khadgar's occasional (and awful) puns, but when most of the Broken Shore quests start and end with them, it really feels disconnected from the otherwise serious tone of the zone.

"Champion, we must free the souls of the men and women who gave their lives on the Broken Shore. They are being tortured by the Legion to fuel their war engines, a fate worse from death..."

Then, two meters to the left...

"LOL YOU GOTTA -EXTINGUISH- THESE FLAMES, BECAUSE I FEEL -THE HEAT- AND IT'S GIVING ME -HEART BURN- LOL!"

I actually quite like Bill and Ted though.

Well, there's always Budd Nedreck.

But then, that's a joke character, of which there's no real shortage, as opposed to a funny character.

Orb of Lightning

Some call Theldurin the Lost a funny or humorous character. Some even call him a joke.

I call anyone with the guts to punch Deathwing in the face a goddamn hero.

I think Khadgar's sense of humor is great but I agree it feels out of place in the Broken Shore.

I don't think it's needed. I feel like Blizzard would be hard pressed to write the shit properly, so probably don't even bother.

Yeah all of this.

There was nothing wrong with the occasion meme/pop culture reference when it was low key, but Blizzard have forced it (full on) into everything now.

Why do the normies ruin everything they touch?

I think by far the best humor Blizz did was Arthas' deadpanning in WC3/TFT.

Kael is not bad either.

So yeah in-character humor that sometimes (very slightly) leans on the 4th wall is the winning ticket imo.

I don't see it happening. The chances of said "funny" character turning out like Jar Jar Binks is far, far too high.

So, they're just going to stay away from it. Goblins and Gnomes are enough.

Shadow Orb

Don't we have the hilarious Budd Nedreck for that?

But I guess we could see more of the confused dwarf prospector in Darkshore.

I'm afraid intelligent humor has long vanished away from the clutches of Blizzard.

Yes, the strategy games had deadpanning, and then the "pissed" quotes. Those were great and gave the game a soul of its own.
